A CHRISTMAS-MAD couple tied the knot in a festive-themed ceremony with Father Christmas and two of his reindeer.
Dave and Liz Dunstan, née Brown, were wed at the register office in Heartlands, Pool, before transporting 80 guests to the 'North Pole' reception in Trickie Dickies, Redruth.
Liz said: "It was an absolutely fantastic day, it couldn't have gone any better. We are so happy."
Dave added: "It was better than I could ever have expected. Liz looked amazing and I struggled to get the words out because it was very emotional."
Alongside her tinsel-red dress, the bride arranged for two reindeer to greet guests, adorned the venue with holly, baubles and Christmas decorations and shared a traditional fruit cake topped with red and white poinsettia. Father Christmas handed out special gifts to all of the children.
Liz said: "I am absolutely mental when it comes to Christmas – I start thinking about it in January.
"I love everything about it, so with the date (December 23) it seemed obvious to make it a Christmas theme.
"It has also meant that my daughters, Dave's daughter and our grandchildren came down and spent Christmas with us, which was really special."
The Redruth couple met three years ago at the Railway Club.
"I was a member of the darts team for a number of years and Dave joined the pool team and that's how we got talking really," Liz said. "It was love at first sight."
Romantic
But when Dave popped the question on Christmas Eve 2013, his romantic proposal did not go quite as planned.
Liz said: "We always go to the Miner's Arms for carols each Christmas Eve and he planned to get down on one knee near the fire outside.
"But it started raining so we went back to my nephew's house to play cards. In the end my nephew had to almost throw the cards at him so they would fall on the floor and he could get down on one knee to propose.
"Even though it wasn't what he wanted it was very romantic."Read more at: www.marieprom.co.uk/evening-dresses
